Dan Mahoney, Fire Chief 

Welcome to the Ross Valley Fire Department. I am proud to lead the Department, a joint-powers agency serving the Towns of Ross, San Anselmo, Fairfax and the Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District. I have been a dedicated member of the department for more than 26 years, proudly serving the same community I have called home my entire life. A lifelong resident of Fairfax, I strive to bring my deep local knowledge and my strong sense of committment to every aspect of my leadership. 

The Department provides comprehensive emergency services including fire suppression, emergency medical response (both basic and advanced life support), specialized rescue, hazardous-materials response, fire prevention and community education. 

As the Fire Chief, I emphasize professionalim, respect, integrity, and ethical service to the community-working closely with residents, business owners, and neighboring agencies to strengthen safety, resilience, and readiness throughout the Ross Valley. I am dedicated to fostering a culture of teamwork, continual learning, and community partnership-ensuring that Ross Valley Fire Department remains a trusted, progressive leader in public safety.
